Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is ABC accredited?

    Accreditation Statement

As with most bible colleges and institutes, ABC has not sought secular / regional accreditation and is not required to.  In the United States of America jurisdiction over religious and church related institutions rests with the individual state governments. Compliance with state regulations is the necessary condition for operating a legitimate school.

On October 19, 2009, the Tennessee Higher Education Commission recognized that ABC’s offering of certain avocational programs is exempted from post-secondary   authorization according to the provisions of the Post-Secondary Education Authorization Act of 1974. ABC is a non-degree granting study system designed for religious / personal educational enrichment.

If you desire to pursue a degree for secular employment with a state, county, or federal organization, or any location that requires a state or regionally accredited degree, ABC is not the school for you.

Accreditation is a voluntary process for accountability purposes. Such accountability is in part the task of the ABC Board of Regents.

  • Can I earn my Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate Degree through ABC?
ABC is currently developing a program that will assist students in understanding nontraditional education. More information on this program will be provided at a later date.

  • How is ABC permitted to offer post-secondary education in Tennessee?

We only offer programs that are avocational, designed for personal and religious enrichment.  The Tennessee Higher Education Commission has examined our Basic Hermeneutics, Biblical Studies and Jesusology programs and determined these programs do not have to authorized by the State of Tennessee.  Thus ABC enjoys exempt status to offer these postsecondary educational programs without being authorized by THEC.

However, there are hundreds of Bible colleges who fall within our network of accredited schools.

  • Is ABC for Apostolic Christians only?
No. Applicants must be seeking either personal tutoring, religious ministry training or a biblical studies course that may result in life experience, personal development or biblical clarity. Specialized pastoral counseling sessions to repair or enhance marital relationships may be obtained though ABC as authorized under TCA title 36-3-301-2. Our primary concern is coursework in the art and science of biblical interpretation, Christian apologetics and exegesis. Since these subjects deal with how to interpret the scriptures anyone with a Christos centric worldview may enroll. Also, ABC does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex or color.
